What is a Break Card?

A Break Card is a visual strategy to help a learner when they become overwhelmed with a situation. The break card is used to provide an opportunity for the learner to take a moment to calm down.

Having a break card available allows the learner to point to the card, hand the card to the support person, hold up the card, or place the card in a designated spot when they require a break.
